Word and Image-
Harold Edgerton “Shooting the Apple”
I chose to concentrate on this photograph of a bullet piercing an apple. It is a moment in time where a person could not see. The artist developed a photographic technology that surpassed limits of speed, distance, scale and darkness. It is 1/100,000,000 of a second shutter was used to capture the shot. This photograph freezes a moment in time allowing it to be visible to the human eye. This photograph is very intense; one can see the tiny fragments of the apple exploding from the bullet. The duration of this photograph is the 1/100,000,000 of a second in which this event took place. The cobalt blue color for the background with the red apple, which looks like a mackintosh apple, compliments each other very well. The apple and bullet stand out. This could also go along with the theme of mythological because it captures an event in time which a person would not be able to see.
